Bronner Residency:
the Grant Holders

11.02.2012 - 09.04.2012

Young artists in an Israeli-German dialogue

With the exhibition Bronner Residency: the Grant Holders, KIT is showing works by six Israeli and seven German artists who lived and worked for a time either in Düsseldorf and North Rhine-Westphalia or in Tel Aviv, Israel, in conjunction with the Bronner Residency. The artist grants - a cooperation between the Düsseldorf Cary and Dan Bronner Foundation, the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia in addition to the Goethe Institut and the Artists' Studios in Tel-Aviv - enable the grant holders to each work for six months in the other country, respectively. This amount of time is sufficient to expect visible effects on the artistic works of the grant holders. KIT - Kunst im Tunnel presents artworks made over the past five years since the foundation of the Bronner Residency.

The broad spectrum of artworks in this exhibition visualises the complexity of the creative work of the participating artists. The selected alternatives and allusions to various cultures and material reference systems demonstrate a productive and fascinating alliance composed of curiosity, imagination and the independent, individual pursuit of people travelling between diverse - real as well as fictitious - places.
